I just realized I never bragged exceedingly of our champ girls success at Oireachtas this year! For those who don't know, Oireachtas is our regional World Qualifier held in Anaheim this year.
Both Cat Bennett, of North Logan, and Mikyra Lund of Petersboro, got a recall this year! Both placed in their age categories with Mikyra qualifying for Nationals held in Chicago this July. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication! Way to put Cache Valley on the map and represent An Tus Nua! (fist pump and cocky nod)

The girls had a great time in Vegas, amongst the heat & peacocks! Little Liath Mollenhauer placed 2nd in both of her First Feis dances and got a tiara! Mikyra Lund got 3rd in her prelim champ competition of 25. Congrats girls!!

Congratulations to An Daire in Logan who now has their own TCRG! Terena is now registered as a Teacher with An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha in Dublin, Ireland. We are excited for what this means for the dancers here in the Cache Valley area. She has been invited to attend An Re Orga,(the Golden Era)World Ball in Dublin, Ireland this April to receive her certificate on stage.
There were many people involved who made this all possible:

Her family and friends cannot be overlooked. Many times they were subjected to learning ceili's. Thankyou!

Catherine Bennett & Mikyra Lund competed in Portland at the feis June 5-6. Kyra placed 3rd in her slip; and Cat took home 3rds in Light Jig and Hornpipe, but got 1sts in her Reel, Slip, Single and Treble Jig! Way to go, girls!!!
There is a pic of the other "sisters" from An Daire that also were winners this past weekend. Catherine only has her hornpipe left to move until she is in Pre-lim!!!

Our annual recital is coming up on Sat, April 24th!! All should plan on attending and bring as many family and friends as you can!

New this year will be the FAIRY REEL SPECIAL where the dancers can dress up as their favorite mythical creature...super fun!!

Get ready for a fun St. Patrick's Day! Not only will we be touring some of the local schools, we will be making other appearances as well. March 11, 15 & 17 are the days we will be touring schools.

March 20, Saturday, is an open workshop. If you have friends or neighbors that are interested in doing Irish, we want you to bring them that day. It is free to the public and all ages are invited.

Some other dates to mark on your calendar are March 31 - April 3. Jim will be coming to do some choreography for a "show". If your daughter wants a chance to be part of this, she will need to be available on April 1st and possibly April 2 & 3rd. Will know more later.

Our Class Feis is already booked for April 17th. Everyone mark your calendars. This is so much fun! We want everyone to feel they can participate in it!

Summer Camp is scheduled for August 5-7. Not a must, but definitely a good time and strongly encouraged!

We have a performance at Willow Park - section C @ 12:30 this Friday, July 31st. Please be there by 12:00 noon if you wish to participate. It is for the Senoir Companions Group. They are so very excited to have us!
Don't forget that we are able to attend Dance Camp next week in Boise. The dates are August 6-8th. Cost is $30 for Beginners and $60 for Advanced. Great opportunity for learning and LOTS of fun!!

We are planning on doing the parade in North Logan this Friday, July 24th. Line-up is at 9:30. Go East on 1400 North until you get to 600 East. Turn left or North and go to about 1700 North. We are on the East(or right) side of the road. I don't have a number, sorry.

I will be bringing water bottles for everyone. You will need to wear your school dress with a short-sleeved white blouse, poodle socks, black tennis shoes, spankies and have your hair up in a pony tail. Wear your AnDaire t-shirt with a black skirt if you don't have a school dress yet.

Everyone is invited to participate in the parade! Come and have fun!

We will NOT be doing the Mendon parade this year! Have a great 24th holiday!!

Lewiston & Hyrum Parades

What a great time we had at the parades on the fourth! A great big THANKYOU to all who came! The girls danced through TWO parades! We ran out of fliers very quickly.... due to amazing turn-out at both parades! All in all, the "Irish Dancers" were a BIG hit! People could be seen attempting jigs on the sides as we would go by.

The girls cooled off with a water fight after the parades were over.

How about a wee bit of "Irish-disco" to liven things up.

We all eager to attend the Utah State Feis located in Salt Lake City! We will be taking our own group of dancers down to the feis to compete (and watch). Some are new this year, and some are more experienced.

St.Patty's was full of dancing and excitement! The girls trouped through the schools and ended the fabulous day with performances and games at the Fun Park! With five performances in one day, they were still dancing strong at 8:30PM to the delight of the enthusiastic crowd! I believe we are already making plans for next year....!

An Daire Academy Irish Dancers have performances all over Cache Valley! From Hyrum to Lewiston these Irish Dancers have given up some of their time to educate and entertain others. With dancers ranging from Beginning levels to Prizewinner/Pre-liminary Champion they are able to put on quite a show!

We also want to invite the public to an Irish Frenzy on the 17th at the Cache Valley Fun Park! There will be games, contests, prizes, and of course....Irish dancers!!! A night of fun to be had by EVERYONE! Younger kids activities go from 5 - 7PM and include: Gold Coin Toss; Lee's Shamrock Walk(doughnut walk); Face Art and Best Dressed Award. Young adult/college activities go from 7 - 9PM and include: Lee's Lucky Charm Eating Contest; Best Dressed Award and AnDaire Irish Dance Performance.

Its going to be the funnest thing going on this St.Patrick's Day in Cache Valley. So if you want to celebrate and don't have anywhere to go.....head to the Irish Frenzy at the Cache Valley Fun Park!

Irish Valentines

AnDaire Academy of Irish Dance was asked to participate in this years Victorian Valentines Vaudeville Show held at the American West Heritage Center.

The dancers really enjoy performing for an audience. They like the break from competitions and love it when the people get involved and look like they're having a good time. According to the applause, they were a crowd pleaser! Thanks to David Sidwell for arranging the event.

Emily Plowman, 9 years old, of North Logan competed at Feile Samhain and placed first in her Beginner 2 Single Jig! Way to go Emily! She now qualifies to wear a solo dress of her choice.

This girl started with AnDaire Academy of Irish Dance just this past January, and look where her beautiful leap-overs have gotten her! If you haven't seen her dance, we need to inform you that she defies gravity! No cords neccessary. SWEET!

A WEE BIT ABOUT IRISH DANCE. . . .

Have you seen Riverdance or Lord of the Dance? The feet seem on fire while the top of the dancers is as still as ice!! There is a whole world of Irish dance out there that is now here in our very own little Cache Valley!

Classes are offered at the Bullen Center in Logan. You don't have to have any previous dance experience - just a desire to learn. Serious fun exercise!

At An Daire Academy of Irish Dance, you can dance for fun or you can be a part of that elusive Irish Dance world and compete at Feisianna(Irish dance competitions) because we have CERTIFIED instructors who have learned the traditional irish dances and proper technique from Ireland!! Our instructors have teams and solo dancers who compete at local, regional, national and world competitions!! All who competed at Worlds last year brought home medals. Their choreography is on the cutting edge with the very latest steps as the sport progresses.

Logan Dancers Compete at the Halloween Feis

Congratulations to all of our dancers who competed at Feile Samhain, the Halloween competition, held in Portland, Oregon the weekend of October 25th & 26th! Samhain was the Irish predecessor to Halloween, and in the spirit of the holiday, adjudicators, musicians and competitors alike came dressed in costumes, including adjudicator Dr. John Cullinane and our own Terena Lund as John McCain and Sarah Palin!

The distinguished panel came from England, Ireland, Canada and the United States, with the dancers from Logan taking top marks out of over 500 competitors! The capstone event, the Costume Reel, saw Mary Poppins and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves take home top prize. In addition, the event's two charitable specials raised over $900 for Doernbechers Children's Hospital and over $1200 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Congratulations again and see you all at the next feis!
